This portrait was done for one of my best friends, Theresa. It is of her oldest son, Ryan.
Ever since I started oil painting, Theresa asked if I had painted any portraits or if I would be willing to try. Growing up, I had never liked to draw or paint pictures of people but....with Theresa's encouragement (hounding...ha ha, just kidding Theresa...) I decided to take a portrait class. I thought maybe if I took a class from an instructor who excelled at painting portraits and was good at relaying the wisdom, I might be tempted to try a portrait...and actually enjoy doing it. Well, needless to say, I am some what hooked. I've found that they offer a new challenge and that I just look at it as painting a different, more complex "animal".
