"Conversations with Grandpa"

This is a portrait of my Grandpa Blankenship or Grandpa "Ship" as we used to call him. This was actually my very first portrait, painted in 2003. It was painted from a photograph taken of my Grandpa while he was having a conversation with my Grandma at my wedding. Sadly, my Grandpa passed away shortly after this, that same year. The picture was pretty blurry and was kinda hard to work from, but I found that as I worked on it, it brought back a lot of memories and mental "photographs" of him.
